Diageo Board appoints Debra Crew Interim CEO
Debra Crew will replace the ill Diageo CEO Ivan Menezes, who had originally planned to step down at the end of the month, with immediate effect.
Originally, the succession of Chief Executive Officer Sir Ivan Menezes at the beverage company Diageo had already been arranged. The plan was for Menezes to retire on 30 June 2023 and for Debra Crew, previously chief operating officer, to succeed him. However, the company has now announced that Menezes’ health has suffered a “significant setback” following emergency surgery for a stomach ulcer. As a result of these developments, the board has appointed Debra Crew as interim chief operating officer with immediate effect, before she joins the board as an executive director on 1 July 2023.
