818 Tequila from Kendall Jenner launches in Germany

818 Tequila, the multi award-winning premium tequila brand founded by entrepreneur Kendall Jenner,  continues its expansion into new markets and launches in Germany this year. The brand just signed an exclusive partnership for Germany with the Berlin-based company Jaguar Mezcal Boutique (JMB).  

Named after Kendall’s area code in Calabasas, California, 818 Tequila is meant to be savoured during magical moments with close family and friends. 818 works with a family-owned distillery to sustainably produce the smoothest, best tasting tequila possible. Each blend is carefully crafted from 100% Blue Weber Agave, handpicked by skilled jimadores from the lowlands and highlands of Jalisco, Mexico.

JMB is a company founded by Amanda Novoa, a Mexican entrepreneur who launched this project in 2022, focusing on authentic and best-in-class agave spirits, which she introduced successfully to Berlin’s unique bar culture. Concerning the new alliance, the founder comments: “JMB has successfully introduced a curated selection of artisanal and premium mezcal brands in Germany. We want to expand our portfolio for tequila and with it relevance to bring agave spirits to Germany. Yet we want to do so without losing the core of what we stand for – fascinating diversity, best-in-class quality, Mexican craftsmanship, sustainability.”

818 Tequila with four different qualities

818 offers four distinct agave expressions: Blanco, Reposado, Añejo and Eight Reserve. Each of them offers an expression of nature (agave, terroir) and craftsmanship, with great balance and intensity:

• 818 Tequila Blanco is barrel-aged for 3 weeks. The taste is slightly sweet with undertones of tropical and citrus fruits. A light-bodied spirit in a brilliant platinum color, it has an ultra-smooth, bright, and crisp finish.
• 818 Tequila Reposado is aged in French and American oak barrels for a minimum of 2 months. It tastes of ripe roasted agaves with notes of caramel, vanilla, and pecan pie. A medium-bodied spirit with straw color and golden hues, it has smooth caramel finish.

• 818 Tequila Añejo is barrel-aged for over 1 year in oak barrels. The taste is elegant and velvety with vanilla, sweet agave, and crisp herbal notes. A full-bodied spirit with shiny golden reflections and bronze hues, it has a silky smooth, warm vanilla finish.

• Eight Reserve by 818 Tequila is aged in French and American barrels for up to 8 years. The taste is an elegant expression of cooked agave, vanilla, cinnamon, dried berries, and praline. A full-bodied spirit with light amber and copper hues, it has a prolonged and silky-smooth finish with fruit and spiced accents.

Tasting with the Master Tequilero

In October, JMB hosted a private tasting event in Veronika by Fotografiska in parallel to the Bar Convent Berlin 2024. The tasting was conducted by David Yan Gonzalez, Master Tequilero of 818 Tequila. The response was very positive and attendees were impressed by the quality and taste of the tequila. Encouraged by the success of the event, Amanda Novoa indicates: “The German market is highly competitive but after these impressions, we are highly confident that 818 TequilaTequila 818 will be a great success with German consumers. It has the potential to compete on all levels in the premium tequila market with competitive advantages in brand, taste, and style .”

818 Tequila will be available in Germany beginning this December. 818 is currently available in 34 countries, including the US, Canada, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Austria, Singapore, China, India, Australia, Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, U.A.E., and in select markets in the Caribbean.
