St. Kilian Distillers: Kiliani Edition 2024 – IMMINA: A Franconian fusion
To mark St Kilian’s Day on 8 July, the Franconian distillery St Kilian Distillers is launching a new limited edition single malt whisky bottling: the Kiliani Edition 2024 – IMMINA. This year’s bottling honours the blessed Immina, granddaughter of Duke Gosbert and Gailana and abbess of Würzburg and Karlburg. The special edition as a Franconian composition and the chosen title once again show the whisky distillery’s strong connection to its Franconian homeland and its namesake St Kilian.
Under the experienced direction of master distiller and blender Mario Rudolf, the Kiliani Edition 2024 – IMMINA is a unique single malt whisky that reflects the Franconian region. This mild (unpeated) creation matured for five years in former bourbon barrels that were previously filled with the “Brauerreserve 1237” from the Faust family brewery in Miltenberg – an opalescent, fruity and complex craft beer with a barrique aroma. This special Franconian pre-bottling gives the whisky a rich bouquet of honey, malty beer notes and creamy toffee. This is complemented by sweet fruit flavours and gently warming oak spice, which guarantee a full-bodied enjoyment experience.
With the Kiliani Edition 2024 – IMMINA, St. Kilian Distillers presents the fourth bottling in the series, which is named after important personalities from the life of Kilian, the Apostle of Franconia.
Immina, the daughter of the last Duke of Thuringia, Hetan II, lived as a nun in the monastery founded by her father on the Marienberg in Würzburg. She later transferred the monastery to Bishop Burkard and retired to St Mary’s Monastery in Karlburg, where she died in 750. Her remains rest in Würzburg Cathedral today.
Available from 8 July 2024 in a limited edition
The Kiliani Edition 2024 – IMMINA is neither coloured nor chill-filtered and bottled at perfect drinking strength with an alcohol content of 46% vol. in the iconic 0.5-litre pot still bottle. The fruity, spicy single malt whisky is limited to 975 bottles and will be available online and in the shop at the visitor distillery in Rüdenau from 8 July at 5:30 p.m. The recommended retail price for the 0.5 litre bottle is € 59.90.
