Hopwater – The new ‘Beer Alternative Alternative’ to refresh the Summer
Drinking a beer alongside a canal, in a park or at your favorite Open Air is a pleasure enjoyed by people across Germany. There is no exception to this in Wedding, Berlin; the home of Vagabund Brauerei, a microbrewery who are celebrating their 10th Anniversary in 2023.
Best known for their core range of Helles, Pale Ale and IPAs, they have turned their sights onto a brand new product – Hopwater. Hopwater, which is carbonated water dry hopped with the finest selection of German hops, comes in at 0% Alcohol, 0 calories and a whole lot of freshness.
But why would you want to drink Hop infused water instead of a Non-Alcoholic Beer? Simple – why not? Matt Walthall, one of the founders of Vagabund says “We have been experimenting with different non-alcoholic beverages for a while and thought we would try our hand at Hopwater. We were honestly skeptical at first, but after testing a number of different hops were really surprised at how well some of the hops worked. In fact some hops developed different flavors and aromas than they normally would in beer. It really is its own thing, and we couldn’t be happier with the results.”
With Hopwater becoming one of the biggest growing trends in the beer industry, at a rate of 43.9% over the past year [1] Vagabund is expecting Hopwater to become a high performing alternative to Non Alcoholic beers. A lot of Non Alcoholic Beers are classified at anything below 0,5%, and can sometimes be trying too hard to mimic a beer flavor. However, Hopwater is not trying to mimic anything, it will be standing on its own two legs without the need to go head to head with Non Alcoholic Beers.
Vagabund’s Hopwater will be available from tap from both of their Taprooms; Antwerpnerstraße and in Osram-Höfe, and for takeaway, so there will be plenty of opportunity to sample what Hopwater can offer.
Hopwater – the refreshing 0 Calorie Alternative to Beer Alternatives that will make a splash in Germany this summer.
